Opened in 2011 by Gina & Dennis Mahaffey, 531 Liberty was their dream to offer delicious, healthy choices at moderate prices in a relaxed setting. In August of 2016, the restaurant was purchased by Chef David Sonnier and Chef Casey Allen. David, a former chemical engineer, worked for Chef John Besh at Borgne and as Executive Chef at Milano of Downtown Houma. Casey, a Houma transplant worked for Chef John Besh at August and also as Executive Chef at Milano of Downtown Houma. Their mission is to continue the legacy of passion and quality left by Gina and Dennis. Much of the produce used in the cafe is pulled locally and nearly everything is made right here in house. The menu features sandwiches, burgers, salads, scratch made soups, vegetarian friendly dishes, and desserts made to order.
